On October 30, the Government Affairs Industry Network (GAIN) partnered with Venable LLP to host a state affairs panel focused on recent tax and healthcare reform efforts. This event was part of a series of discussions highlighting the relationship between federal and state policy issues and their impacts on communities and businesses across the country.
This panel focused on the impacts of tax and healthcare reform efforts in the states. Moderated by former Senator Mark Pryor, panelists Alex Hendrie, Americans for Tax Reform; Max Behlke, National Conference of State Legislatures; Brian Bowden, National Association of Counties; and Julian Hoffman, National Safety Council, shared their insights on how healthcare and tax reform impact state budgets.
Our panelists shared their thoughts on potential tax code provisions and passage timelines. They also discussed how tax code changes can impact state budgets, including state resources for healthcare funding. Panelists explained how state Medicaid funding and Affordable Care Act changes affected state budget resources. In addition, they discussed how the opioid crisis is further straining state healthcare budgets.
GAIN would like to give a big thanks to our sponsor, Venable LLP, and to our panelists for sharing their insights with us!
