The Government Affairs Industry Network (GAIN) gathered at the offices of Clark Hill PLC last Thursday, October 12th to learn about the current state of tax reform efforts on Capitol Hill and the overall outlook for getting a tax reform bill through the 115th Congress from a panel of tax policy experts.
The panel was the latest event in GAIN’s ‘Hot Topics in Public Policy’ series, which facilitates discussion regarding legislative and regulatory developments by bringing together thought leaders to discuss state-of-play, insights, and intel on current affairs.
Panelists included Janice Mays of PricewaterhouseCoopers, Rachelle Bernstein of the National Retail Federation, and Dave Olander of Capitol Counsel LLC. Jeanne de Cervens of Transamerica did a wonderful job as the panel’s moderator.
The discussion provided insights on the overall prospects for reform of the American tax code, likely outcomes and compromises, realistic timelines, and fascinating comparisons between today’s tax reform initiatives and the last tax overhaul of 1986. They also touched on how a potential renovation of the tax system would impact the greater populace, the DC advocacy community, and other proposed legislative endeavors.
Special thanks to our panelists and moderator, our incredible host, Clark Hill, our co-sponsor, Quorum Analytics, and of course our devoted audience for making this event a success.
Please join us for GAIN’s next event, “D.C. Decorum: Media Management & Speed Training,” on Thursday, October 19th at the offices of Levick.
