GAIN hosted a wine tasting + networking reception with local wine expert Logan Misean. Attendees tasted six different mid-tier wines that can be found in any normal wine store or supermarket. Ready…Set…Mentor! Speed Mentoring with GAIN

Diversity in Advocacy Reception

On March 7th, the Government Affairs Industry Network (GAIN) partnered with the Grassroots Professional Network (GPN) and the NALEO Education Fund in cooperation with the Congressional Tri-Caucus Staff Associations to host its kickoff reception for the series, “Diversity In Advocacy: A Discussion to Progress the Workplace.” Over 100 government affairs, grassroots professionals, and Hill staff gathered at the unique AURA Lounge DC to connect over conversations regarding diversity in the advocacy profession. Keynote speaker, Rhonda Foxx, Chief of Staff, Rep. Alma Adams (D-NC) spoke about the importance of having diversity in Capitol Hill and her ongoing support for hiring people of color into key positions. GAINing Confidence: A Half-Day Seminar from GAIN & PLEN

On Friday, the Government Affairs Industry Network (GAIN) partnered with the Public Leadership Education Network (PLEN) to host the Mentor Committee’s first DC Decorum event of 2018 – GAINing Confidence: Professional Protocol & Dining Etiquette Workshop. Generously hosted by George Washington University’s Graduate School of Political Management, the event was a half-day workshop on the art of business etiquette, designed to give attendees the knowledge to act with confidence in any business situation. This event was part of a series of discussions highlighting the relationship between federal and state policy issues and their impacts on communities and businesses across the country. This panel focused on the impacts of tax and healthcare reform efforts in the states. GAIN & GPN Host Congressional Baseball Game Pre-Game!

Last night, the Government Affairs Industry Network and the Grassroots Professional Network joined forces to co-host our second joint event in celebration of the annual Congressional Baseball Game, a Washington tradition since 1909. This year’s game raised a record $1.2 million for charities such as the The Washington Literacy CenterThe Boys and Girls Club of Greater Washington, the Washington Nationals Dream Foundation and others. The event was held at Top of the Yard in the Hampton Inn Washington DC — overlooking the Nationals Stadium and giving attendees a near perfect view of the ongoing baseball game below. Over 200 Government Affairs professionals from a variety of industries were in attendance, with over 400 on the waitlist. GAIN was also honored to have several Members of Congress, including Chairman Pete Sessions, stop in for a quick visit to show their support. On June 7, Government Affairs Industry Network (GAIN) participants met at LEVICK to hear Keegan BalesMadison Case, and Richard Levick himself discuss best practices in the Public Affairs Communication world.
